San Clemente-based Four Star Distribution, the owner of footwear and apparel skate brand C1RCA, signed a partnership agreement with the maker of the men’s sportswear line Copy.

“We plan to make a substantial investment into the development of the brand,” says Four Star Senior Vice President Arely Benavides.

Designer Murphy Martines founded Copy in 2006 in Ladera Ranch. Described as directional men’s sportswear, the brand seeks to cross over the line between streetwear and menswear. Current offerings span from jeans to hoodies and tank tops, and can be found at retail stores such as Urban Outfitters, Active and American Rag.

“Murphy Martines is extremely talented and has built an exceptional brand,” Benavides says. “We are looking forward to working closely with him in building the Copy brand in the USA and globally.”

Copy will operate out of the Four Star Distribution headquarters. Steven Sais will take over as U.S. sales manager. Martines will continue to design and market the brand.

“This is a wonderful opportunity and a good fit for a partnership,” Martines says. “Working together, we will be able to take Copy to the next level.”
